Banks Design for the new Ram Air Differential Cover

Purpose Built

When the team at Banks sat down at the drawing board, the goal was to perfect fluid flow and reject BTU's from the fluid as fast as the ring and pinion put them in. When you slow down the fluid in any way, it results in resistance and aeration which KILL your fuel economy. Not only does it hurt your fuel economy, it begins to build heat, this heat will slowly but consistently degrade the fluid and decrease the lifespan of the gearset. 

The Banks Power design is to allow the fluid to flow through your gears with little to no resistance, keeping your oil cool and having consistent coverage on your gears without drowning the bearings.

Currently, most aftermarket covers floating around the market today have fins for cooling. However, those fins really don't do anything, yes, they may dissipate heat to some extent, but there really is no airflow hitting the back of your cover. Also, most of the flat back covers impede the flow, imagine firing a hose at a brick wall, what happens to the fluid?

Proper Differential Air Flow

The Banks Power Ram-Air system increases the amount of airflow that gets pushed passed your differential by scooping air as you move and directing it through the fins on your cover.

 

Poor Differential Air Flow

Other covers may use fins to cool the differential but they don't have a method of pulling the airflow into those fins on the differential.

  • Will this work with 2014 2500 with rear coil springs?

    Yes, provided the truck has the standard AAM 11.5 or 11.8" x 14-bolt rear axle.

  • Would this differential cover fit a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD with a Saginaw rear end with 10 1/2" gear with 14 bolts?

    It will not fit.

  • Will this fit a 2011 ram 2500?

    This fits the 2001-2018 Didge Cummins 2500/3500 w/ AAM 11.5 or 11.8" 14 bolt rear axle.

  • Anyone put one on their LBZ? Just curious if it fits for sure, website fitment chart isn't very specific?

    You can breathe easy—this is a direct bolt-on for your 2006-2007 LBZ Duramax.

  • Will this fit 2017 gmc 3500 diesel

Huuuge improvement! Great quality. Sight glass, drain plug makes a world of difference. Looks rad. 2 things I noted were: -You will have slightly less clearance as the cover hangs further down to get more airflow in the luvers -Gasket fit takes a little playing around with. Don't stretch it. Would 100% purchase again. 👌

After watching banks 3 part comparison video on YouTube, I was sold on this diff cover. Beautiful cover. Only complaint I have is the installation instructions. In the box they give you a YouTube link to watch the installation video and there is also a paper copy of installation instructions. Both instructions tell you two different things. Different torque specs and the vid doesn’t mention putting Teflon tape on the drain and fill plugs. Ended up just going with the higher torque spec and putting the Teflon tape on. Other issue I ran into was my 10mm 12 point socket did not fit between the fins for 3 of the bolts. I ended up having to grind down my socket to fit in between. But at the end of the day I got the cover on and looks awesome!
