Test Criteria
Banks followed RAM's cold start recommendations. Per the owner’s manual, RAM recommends the use of the block heater when the temperature drops below 0°F/-17°C and mandates the block heater at temperatures below -20°F/-29°C.
Using a controlled climate chamber, their first test utilized block heat and two Banks coil heaters (1500 watts total). The Monster-Ram enabled their test truck to cold start down to -30°F/-34°C. Against RAM’s recommendations, they also attempted to cold start with the same two coil heaters and no block heat. We were able to cold start down to -20°F/-29°C.
All tests were performed with two intake air pre-heat cycles per the owner’s manual. Intake air temperature is just one factor contributing to a successful cold start. Individual results may vary. Testing is ongoing with a detailed video forthcoming.
Test Vehicle Configuration
RAM recommends the use of a block heater at 0°F/-17°C and mandates its use at -20°F/-29°C. Failure to follow these instructions could lead to premature wear and/or failure of key components, including pistons, rings, and cylinder walls.

Purchased this back in November 2025 and finally found the time to install. Everything fit perfectly and the instructions were very easy to follow. Definitely happy to have this installed to have peace of mind for the potential grid heater failure and ongoing carbon build up. Highly recommended.

No performance gains, but the piece of mind that that killer bolt is gone. It was in good shape. But the thought is gone! No worries now.
Extra heater coil is easy install on its own. Instructions say it’s a 19 mm but it’s actually a 24mm
Living in North-Western Ontario, the extra coil is a must. Install was a breeze, especially since I installed it with the Banks Monster Ram install at the same time. Time will tell if I need to add a third coil, but always intend on plugging in anyways. This was part of my first purchase from Dirty, but it won’t be my last, fantastic company to deal with!

Banks duel heater option is recommended for colder climate and is easy installation.
The installation mostly went well, the parts all seemed well made and fit nicely. The instructions were overall very good, but I did notice that my stock truck had some different parts than what the instructions said (which may not be a Banks problem). Wasn’t a big problem, but did slow me down a few times. Also, the approximately 6 inch long hex key didn’t stand up very well to 18-20 ft pounds of torque (it started to twist). Otherwise, pleased with the results
Added the second coil to help with cold winter starts up north. Easy to install.
Fit is great, with the dual coils it starts right up in northern Ontario weather, -30 no problem
Really easy to install into my existing Monster Ram intake. Double the heat of the single coil. Now I just need some cold weather to put it to the test.

Was easier than online instructions suggested. I suggest making instructions for each upgrade kit rather than lumping them all together

They came super late 13 weeks after ordered. No warning, no discount, no free swag, missed the entire winter season. Should have ordered from another supplier i guess that was up front about delivery time.
Heater arrived, long wait time on intake so have been unable to install. Unknown ship date and it’s been 10 weeks
