The Banks Monster-Ram Intake improves airflow from the intercooler, it increases airflow in your Cummins to 906CFM (69.22 lbs/min) compared to stocks measly 432CFM (33.00 lbs/min). By doing this, it raises your boost without increasing backpressure at the turbine. The result of this is a more responsive, powerful, and efficient engine.
The Monster-Ram includes 4 1/8" NPT ports for flexibility, the two top NPT ports are positioned to allow for proper atomization directly in the center of the air mass while preventing wall wetting. It also accommodates stock mounting points including the Temperature & Pressure Sensors, Wire Harness, and Dipstick Tube.
A simple, direct-replacement casting, Monster-Ram is instant power, performance, and acceleration gratification.
Now Dual Heat Capable! The Monster-Ram still comes standard with the Banks 750-watt coil heater, but now you can add a second heaterfor up to 1500 watts of cold-start power, all without sacrificing airflow.
Part Number: 42799 / 42799-PC / 42799-B

Additional Info
What It Does
The Monster-Ram improves airflow from the intercooler. It flows 72.7 lbs/min withBanks’ New Coil Heater and High-Flow Billet Intake Platecompared to stock's 38.6 lbs/min MAF. That is a huge 88.3% improvement over stock you can feel!
The proprietary design raises boost without increasing back-pressure at the turbine. The result is improved engine response, efficiency, and headroom for daily driving and heavy hauling.
There are two devices on your Cummins engine that increase air density; the turbocharger and the intercooler.
Anything in the system that doesn’t create air density, cuts air density. Banks designed the Monster-Ram to get back that lost air density.
It's All About Mass Air Flow
The secret to the Monster-Ram's performance is not just airflow, but the quality and literal weight of the air it flows. Your Cummins engine is limited in the volume of air it can flow through its 6 cylinders even at max RPM.
By increasing the mass of the air delivered to each cylinder, your stock-tuned engine will breathe more efficiently with less stress and set the stage for huge power gains when stacked with a tune.
How It's Done
Your Cummins engine consumes a massive amount of air and struggles to breathe through its tiny, squashed inlet. The stock horn causes boost loss at the same flow while the Banks Monster-Ram has a wide, unrestricted, free-flowing path.
Engineering a better solution
All other replacement manifolds are compromised thanks to the No. 1 fuel line, which obstructs the airflow path.
The Monster-Ram offers unparalleled airflow thanks to its custom-engineered fuel line.
All this without the need for tuning.
Monitor everything
If you have an existing iDash setup, the Monster-Ram has four 1/8 inch NPT ports for installing temperature, pressure, or flow sensors.
Cummins Ticking Time Bomb
Due to heat, vibration, and time, a nut and stud from the factory heater grid has been documented to come loose and fall into the intake manifold. Once this happens, it will roll downhill into cylinder #6, causing catastrophic failure that requires a complete engine rebuild or replacement from bent valves, damaged pistons, and head.

Can you buy the intake heater separate from this if so is it just as good as the factory grid heater. I just bought a monster ram non egr intake is like to get rid of the grid heater
Great product -- Really high quality castings/ machine work. Very detailed instructions. A 19mm(3/4") 4 way wrench (30°/60°) really helps get injector line 5 and 6 off.
My goal was to replace the stock ram grid heater which is known to drop a bolt internally and cause major internal engine damage. I watched the Banks installation video and followed the instructions it was not difficult but you need to have patience. I did modify a 19mm wrench taking some material off the shoulders and I also lengthened the wrench to get to the number six fuel line.
Just got this installed. It’s working good. I have a better peace of mind with this in and not the factory grid in. The cold start isn’t a problem if you’re able to plug in. Tested at -28c with th truck plugged in. Zero issue starting with just one coil hooked up.
Looks fantastic. Definitely need to know your way around the engine for install. Install instructions have some errors in it but pretty stright forward. Highly recommend having a 12 point flair crows foot and not a normal crows wrench as torquing the fuel lines are a royal pain with very minimal space so a 12 point really helps prevent swearing.
It was a amazing day to install this product and was very easy.
Just like everyone says fuel lines in the back #5 & 6 was challenging.
But a bit of patience and I was a success.
Trying to get EGR tube on with they strap clip and the bolt put to much tension on gaskets was not fitting properly.
So just remove the strap clip .
There is more then enough clamping force on the band clamps to hold it very well .
Very happy with the power and throttle response!
What can I say? This is the Banks Monster Ram! The reputation precedes itself. Dirty Diesel is amazing though! Shipped it out quickly and they have incredible customer service. I’m so happy I chose to purchased here.
A great upgrade, top quality, went for the black unit with two heaters. Gets rid of the factory grid heater bolt that can fail, opens up the air flow tremendously eliminating the collection of carbon on the heater element if your truck isn’t deleted. Buying a cheap 19 mm combination wrench and cutting a slot in the box end to remove the fuel lines will really make the install easier.
Took awhile to get it but it was worth the wait and they threw in some swag for the wait. Really good to deal with and the monster ram will bring your Cummins alive.
Ordered this for the dreaded grid heater bolt. Cant wait to see the difference in response the truck will have with more air with the combination of the boost tubes as well.
My mech loves these hoping it saves engine number 2 for me in my 22
We didnt rip the motor apart but I'm not taking the chance the motor in truck now was a 27000.00 buck repair and don't wanna do it again.
Next will be the cam and lifter conversion kit
Installed the kit videos and information was very clear and easy to follow if you diy . Make sure before you order the kit you also order the banks map spacer sensor in order to get the proper air, fuel ratio . Works well so far no issues since a month and throttle response is much better
Only unboxed it so far but looks great. Really appreciate the install video very handy as I planned on tacking it these days off but after watching the install video thought best to wait till next days off and get some more tools from work. Happy with purchase this far will update once installed and running!
