For use with 2014-2024 Cummins Carli lift kits.  This Extended Rear Track Bar / Drop Bracket with 1-2" Lift selector enables you to choose between an extended rear track bar or correct your geometry.

Extended Rear Track Bar

For Ram trucks, the factory 5-link rear suspension delivers an exceptional ride quality both on pavement and off-road, often compared to the comfort of a half-ton truck. However, this design isn't without flaws, most notably the insufficient length of the factory track bar. This specific shortcoming is the primary focus of the Carli Extended Rear Track Bar.

In the factory setup, the axle's movement is managed by four trailing arms, while a track bar controls its side-to-side (lateral) motion. A key issue arises from the opposing mounting points of the front and rear track bars, a design that forces the truck's chassis to twist over the axles as the suspension cycles. When the vehicle is in motion and the tires are fixed to the ground, this twist manifests as a side-to-side shift of the truck's body, a sensation known as yaw. Minimizing this yaw requires making the axle's path through its travel as linear as possible.

The physics of a track bar dictate two main ways to reduce this unwanted lateral movement. As the suspension compresses and extends, the track bar swings through an arc, causing its effective horizontal length to shorten. This change in length is what the driver feels as yaw. To minimize this effect, the track bar must be engineered to be as long and as flat (horizontal) as possible at the vehicle's standard ride height. A longer bar swings through a gentler, wider arc, resulting in less angle change and less effective shortening during the same amount of suspension travel.

Carli Suspension's engineering solution directly addresses these principles. It features a track bar that is an impressive 13.8 inches longer than the original factory bar. To achieve a perfectly flat angle at ride height—where the truck spends most of its time—the design incorporates a raised axle-side mount and a lowered frame-side mount. This geometry ensures that the axle's lateral shift is virtually eliminated during normal driving. The result is a rear end that feels completely stable, with no detectable yaw. Even at the extremes of suspension travel, the lateral shortening of the Carli track bar is a negligible 5/8 of an inch at most.

Another critical factor in suspension design is the "roll center"—the invisible pivot point around which the truck's body leans during a turn. A properly located roll center, aligned with the vehicle's center of mass, ensures stable and predictable handling. The geometry of the Carli track bar was meticulously engineered to optimize this roll center, preventing any feeling of imbalance or instability, especially when the truck is loaded.

In essence, the Carli Extended Rear Track Bar corrects the key geometric weaknesses of the factory 5-link suspension. By dramatically increasing the bar's length and optimizing its angle to be perfectly flat at ride height, it minimizes transverse axle movement and perfects the vehicle's roll center, resulting in a significantly more stable and controlled ride.

Drop Bracket

Like the majority of drop brackets, the sole purpose of a track bar drop bracket is to aid in correcting geometry by lowering the track bar's mounting point on the axle, effectively reducing bump steer or any negative side effects caused by lifting your pickup.

Part Number: CS-DPRBDROP-14-R

Track Bar Features

Main Bar Construction

  • Made from 3/8″ wall DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) tubing.

  • Engineered to be significantly stronger than the brackets it bolts to.

  • The thick wall allows the bar end to be threaded directly, eliminating a weld-in bung which can be a potential point of failure.

Axle-End Heim Joint

  • Features a 1″ x 7/8″ FK Bearing Chromoly RSMX14T Heim Joint.

  • Utilizes a massive 1″ shank for exponentially more shear strength than common 3/4″ or 7/8″ shanks.

Tapered Jam Nut System

  • A custom-developed tapered Jam Nut is used instead of a standard jam nut.

  • The nut and the end of the track bar have matching machined tapers (similar to a lug nut) to ensure the joint is perfectly centered.

  • This design provides 100% more friction surface area, leading to greater clamping force and a more reliable assembly.

Frame-End "CUB" Joint

  • Features a heavy-duty, gusseted housing for the joint.

  • Centered on a proven 7/8″ PTFE-Lined FK Bearing Uniball.

  • The Uniball is encapsulated in custom-molded bushings.

  • The assembly is secured with a Stainless safety washer and a snap ring.

  • Custom misalignment spacers center the joint in the frame bracket, allowing for full fore and aft movement without binding or excessive bushing deflection.

Drop Bracket Features

  • Provides geometry Correction for 1-2" rear lift
  • 1/4" cold-rolled steel construction
  • Durable black powder-coat finish with grade 8 mounting hardware
