Description

Banks Ram-Air Intakes start out as CAD software prototypes, are put through flow simulations and the design is refined until the simulation shows optimal performance. Then a hardware prototype is made and the design is validated on a flowbench, then dyno testing and on-vehicle testing. Banks 42255-D cold-air intake with enclosed housing, huge inlet/outlet, and large filter improves flow up to 66%, increases power and fuel economy, and reduces exhaust gas temps (EGT). The stock design is wide-open to hot underhood engine air, and hot air robs your Dodge Ram of power.

  • Does this fit cab and chassis models as well

    Yes!

  • How do I change the filter I can’t find a video and it can’t be such a stupid design that I’d have to take whole thing apart

    Unfortunately with it's design, you need to remove the box to pull the filter.

  • Does this work with the second gen swap?

    Not compatible with 2nd gen swaps.

  • The dry filter, does it need to be replaced after so many kilometers, can it be cleaned

    Yes, the dry filter can be cleaned with compressed air! Eventually you will need to replace the filter if it becomes too clogged or physically damaged.

    Recommended replacement is typically between 15,000 - 20,000 miles (32,000km).

  • How much hp does it increase on a 2014 cummins?

    Typically you'll gain 10-15HP at the wheels, depending on your supporting mods and tune.

Awesome product definitely worth the buy, the only thing I will mention is the 4 inch rubber connector from the intake to the turbo inlet is just a little to short it still clamps on tho, other then that install was very straight forward and the instructions provided are clear. Dirty diesel is the only place I would recommend buying parts from there customer service is excellent and they have fast shipping

No issues whatsoever, I'm not mechanic and only took me just over an hour to install. Just make sure you have everything lined up and hose clamps where you can reach them to tighten them cause it's a tight squeeze in there.

I am very disappointed in this product. Shame on you Banks this is just a cheap piece of plastic that doesn't fit, doesn't seal up to factory edges. Has already cracked the plastic on the view window and it now rattles and does not seal on exhaust brake pressure. Would not spend the money on this crap! On top of it all you have to take it all apart just to service the filter. Stop selling this crap!

The Banks Ram Air is well made and easy to install however I feel that removing the filter for servicing will be more difficult and take more time than other cold air intakes I've used in the past or other products on the market. I have not put on enough mileage to say whether or not fuel economy has improved yet or not. You can hear the turbo whistle a bit more and when using the exhaust brake it is louder and sounds good. Dirty Diesel Customs has been great to deal with.
