If you observe abnormally high fluid temps for your oil, coolant, or transmission you might want to consider getting an upgraded thermostat. This SPE high-flow thermostat opens at 175/180°F vs. OEM opening at 194/201°F.

Hey I was just wondering if this would affect how the heater works in the cold weather. Considering it doesn’t allow the truck to get as high in temp.

Installed on F550 Service Truck. Faster cool down, when vehicle stopped but unable to maintain coolant temperature or transmission temp at highway speeds around 110km/hr once trans temp reaches and exceeds101degrees celcius. Have to keep vehicle speed around 107km/hr. Vehicle has stock+ size tires and gvw is maxed

2011-2024 Powerstroke Low Temp High Flow Thermostat (SPE-S100119)

SPE thermostat install was straight forward and temperatures are now 8 degrees lower than previous OEM equipment. It was just above freezing for this observation ,so this summer towing will be the true test.

2011-2026 Powerstroke Low Temp High Flow Thermostat (SPE-S100119)

This thermostat lasted a few months untill it stuck open. The truck was down for a few days and I had to buy an oem ford stat to replace it to get the truck up running. I also had to pay the labour to replace the stat again. I dont recommend this product. Warranty takes a few weeks but they did send me a new one.
