Description
Description
Clevite H-series coated main bearing set for 1989-2018 Dodge and Ram 5.9L/6.7L Cummins engines. The base-clearance coated variant — same Clevite race bearing pedigree, with the dry-film coating, without the added .001" of clearance that the HX series carries.
H-series bearings have hardened steel backs with thin overlay, medium eccentricity, and high crush. Enlarged chamfers provide more crank fillet clearance. No flash plating — bearings seat faster and more uniformly. The coating sits between the bearing surface and the crank journal, providing protection during cold starts and oil-starvation events when the oil pump hasn't pressurized the bearings yet. Moly and oil-retention additives in the coating hold film thickness under sustained load.
