Description
Description
The PDM-07001 is an aluminum freeze plug side plate with a high-temperature Viton O-ring for the 1989-2002 5.9L Cummins — covers all 12V, 24V, and 4BT applications. The factory press-in plug rusts, corrodes, and develops a slow weep over time, which leads to coolant loss and the headache of trying to extract a 25-year-old plug without damaging the block. This aluminum replacement with a Viton O-ring solves both problems: aluminum doesn't rust, and the O-ring seals on compression instead of a press-fit, so it installs and removes by hand.
The Viton O-ring is rated for high-temperature service — well above any temperature the cooling system will reach in normal operation, and capable of handling EGR-equipped 24V applications without breaking down.

Notes
Notes
- Do not use a hammer. The plug should slip in with hand pressure only. Hammering damages the O-ring and creates a leak path.
- The freeze plug bore must be cleaned with a wire brush or emery cloth to remove all rust and scale before install.
- The bore must have a small chamfer to allow the O-ring to compress for a tight seal. If yours doesn't, add a small chamfer with a deburring tool before install.
- Lightly oil both the O-ring and the bore before install — installing dry can pinch and tear the seal.
