Description

Race-spec CNC-ported cylinder head for 1989-1998 Dodge 5.9L 12V Cummins engines. Built for the sled puller, drag truck, or dyno queen — every machining step on this head is calibrated for maximum airflow and durability under sustained high EGT.

Porting is done on a 5-axis CNC porting machine with CAD/CAM software developed specifically for cylinder heads, then validated on a Superflow 600 flow bench. Port walls are kept thick enough to survive the thermal shock of sustained high EGT runs without cracking. Premium nickel-based non-magnetic valve seats are installed where the original seats won't hold up.

The intake runner is milled to accept a ZZ Fab-style billet intake (sold separately). Fire-ring grooves are machined into the deck for use with a radius-cut steel fire ring head gasket (sold separately). Drilled-and-tapped coolant freeze plugs replace the leak-prone factory press-in plugs with steel screw-in units. Stainless valves with nitrate coating, heat-treated alloy guides (Rockwell 22) diamond-honed to size, and 150 lb performance valve springs round out the build.

  • Fire ring head gasket (PDM-4068C) sold separately. Required to take advantage of the fire-ring grooves.
  • Head studs required — head bolts won't hold clamping load on a fire-ringed race build.
  • Comes assembled but does not include the rocker assembly or pushrods.
